Fumarate

Products » Fumarate

A fumarate is a salt or ester of the organic compound fumaric acid, a dicarboxylic acid. Its formula is C4H2O42−

A precursor to L-malate in the Krebs tricarboxylic acid cycle. It is formed by the oxidation of adenylsuccinate by succinate dehydrogenase. Fumarate is converted by fumarase to malate. In simple fumarate is used by cells to produce Energy (ATP) from food. Fumarate is also a byproduct of the urea cycle.

Ferrous Fumarate
Iron(II) fumarate, also known as ferrous fumarate is the iron (II) salt of fumaric acid, occurring as a reddish-orange powder, used to supplement iron intake. It has chemical formula C4H2FeO4.

Iron Fumarate
Iron (IPA: /ˈaiə(ɹ)n/) is a chemical element with the symbol Fe (Latin: ferrum) and atomic number 26. Iron is a group 8 and period 4 metal. Iron is a lustrous, silvery soft metal. Iron and nickel are notable for being the final elements produced by stellar nucleosynthesis, and thus are the heaviest elements which do not require a supernova or similarly cataclysmic event for formation. Iron and nickel are therefore the most abundant metals in metallic meteorites and in the dense-metal cores of planets such as Earth.
